Nithin Kamath, CEO of Zerodha, 

has decided to join the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a warning against illegal electronic trading platforms that offer forex trading to Indians.

"We had warned people about illegal CFD, Forex, and Binary trading platforms long time back, but I still see those ads, which means people are still losing money," Kamath explained. "Today's RBI press release will hopefully put an end to these illegal platforms," said the Zerodha founder, who is well-known for his market and business-related tweets.

 Earlier in the day, the RBI expressed fears about unlicensed electronic trading platforms that provide forex trading services to Indians.

The Central Bank claimed that it has come across misleading advertisements for unlicensed electronic trading platforms (ETPs) offering forex trading services to Indian residents, including on social media platforms, search engines, Over The Top (OTT) platforms, gaming apps, and other similar platforms.

Further to that, there have been reports of fraud committed by such unlicensed ETPs or portals, with many residents losing money as a result of such trading, according to the RBI. According to the Foreign Exchange Management Act, Indians can only conduct forex transactions with authorised persons and for authorised purposes (FEMA).
